Representatives from local, national, and international organizations will be at the Westside Plant & Garden Art Fair to answer your questions and let you know about the services, products, upcoming classes, and events offered in our area for both children and adults.

West Seattle Garden TourThe West Seattle Garden Tour (WSGT) is one of the premier garden tours in the Northwest, as well as a fundraiser for local non-profits promoting horticulture, education or the arts. WSGT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 1995 and organized by a group of dedicated volunteers who meet monthly to produce the tour. Annually, WSGT donates about $25,000 dollars to local beneficiaries. This year the tour will take place on Sunday, June 25, 2017. Stop by their booth to find out how you can be a part of the fun, and buy your ticket books early!

West Seattle Bee GardenThe West Seattle Bee Garden is a pollination garden and educational beehive enclosure run by volunteers in the High Point neighborhood, which offers field trips and group visits. Beekeepers talk about the importance of bees to our ecosystem and explain what is going on inside a beehive. Visit their Bee Garden tent to learn more about bees and the Bee Garden's annual "Bee Fest" happening later in May!
King County Noxious Weed ControlKing County Noxious Weed Control provides information on invasive plants & weeds. Find out what plants to watch out for and how to get rid of them. King County has lots of free handouts and booklets as well as knowledgeable staff who will be on hand to answer your questions. If you have a questionable plant in your yard, feel free to bring it in for identification at the King County tent or by one of our local garden experts.

West Seattle Garden ClubNow in its 88th year, the West Seattle Garden Club has had a long tradition of sharing an interest in flowers and gardening with friends and with the wider community. The group meets monthly on Fridays, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with programs on a wide variety of topics. The members have outings throughout the year, visiting gardens and natural sites around the area. The West Seattle Garden Club is a great place for newcomers to learn about gardening in the Pacific Northwest and for the newly-retired to make friends!

Seattle Chinese GardenThe Seattle Chinese Garden blends nature and culture in a park-like setting at South Seattle College (north entrance). Bamboo groves, trees and shrubs native to China, and a small pond enhance the tranquility. A traditional courtyard is a venue for cultural programs and events. People of all backgrounds and ages (tots to seniors) enjoy the annual Peony and Bamboo Festival (April) and Kite Festival (late June). The garden is open daily from dawn to dusk, at no charge. SCG is a nonprofit organization, with suggested donations for festivals and programs.
Seattle Farm SchoolThe Seattle Farm School consists of artisans, gardeners, chefs, foragers, and craftspeople who are passionate about sharing their talents with the community. They preserve and pass on time- honored skills, and develop networks of urban farmers who share wisdom, seeds, products, and plants. The Farm School is growing a connected community of sufficiency and sustainability locally through workshops and events, and globally through social media. Come see what they can offer YOU!
Community Orchard of West SeattleThe Community Orchard of West Seattle (COWS), is a non profit organization that provides a home-scale model and venue that demonstrates how much food can be grown on a city-sized lot using permaculture and organic growing principles. Produce goes to volunteers and local security programs. Please note: COWS will be at the Fair Sunday, May 7 only.

Urban Homestead FoundationThe Urban Homestead Foundation is creating a community gathering and education space in West Seattle that will feature urban agriculture you can replicate at home, in your yard, on your balcony or patio! The Foundation is planning demonstration food gardens, a dwarf fruit tree orchard, a rain garden, plants that support bees and butterflies, and educational opportunities for all ages to learn homesteading skills such as gardening, food preservation, environmental education and more! Visit their table to find out how to help this local endeavor by volunteering, donating money to the project and spreading the word!
Plant for the PlanetPlant-for-the-Planet is an international children’s initiative that aims to raise awareness among children and adults about the issues of climate change and global justice. This youth-directed organization includes more than 46,000 children, ages 9-12, who have developed an ambitious 3-point plan that includes planting 1,000 billion trees, reducing the world's CO2 emissions, and restricting the world's future warming by 2050! Come meet kids from our growing West Seattle Chapter of Plant for the Planet and learn what they are doing locally to achieve their goals.
